youtube video

This video features KRS-One and his opinion on the current state of hip hop. KRS-One, born Lawrence Parker, is known as one if not the most influential member in the hip hop community. He was honored in 2008 at the BET Awards by being given the Lifetime Achievement Award. He founded the now legendary Boogie Down Productions with DJ Scott LaRock in 1987, later that year LaRock was shot and killed. This encouraged KRS-One to write his hit, “Stop the Violence” in 1988, which lead his movement to stop the violence in the black community. While KRS-One is known for helping bring hip-hop culture to mainstream America, a lot of his ideas and opinions are known to be controversial and extreme.
